Millis Select Board

How the Millis Select Board voted, from the Select Board’s official minutes. 3 Select Board members elected townwide for three-year terms, one seat each year. Board of Selectmen. James McCaffrey chaired. The 2017 reorganization minutes are not in the online set, so the vice chair and clerk are not known. Covers 9 meetings, January 8 to April 30, 2018.

A monthly email on what it voted on, starting in November.

What does the Select Board do? It is the town’s executive board. It prepares the Town Meeting warrant (the list of articles voters decide), appoints members of many town boards, hires the town’s top staff, signs warrants to pay town bills, and grants licenses and permits.

Town Meeting, not the Select Board, votes the town budget and town bylaws.

About missing minutes

Loaded: Millis Select Board minutes (called the Board of Selectmen until 2019) from January 8, 2018 through June 15, 2026, from the Minutes folder on the town website. The town has not posted minutes for any meeting after June 15, 2026, or for six meetings in the fall of 2025 (September 8, 18 and 29, October 6, November 10 and 24) and four earlier in 2026 (January 26, April 27, May 18 and June 1). The town posts agendas online only from 2023, so earlier gaps can’t be checked. We list every meeting without minutes, and MassVoter is asking the town for them. The minutes are typed. Most votes are recorded as unanimous or as a roll call by name, so we show each member’s vote. When the minutes say a member called the meeting to order, that member is counted present even if the list of people present names only the others. When the minutes give only a count that doesn’t match the members present, or no result, we show that without guessing; about 30 motions with no recorded result are left out. At joint meetings, only the Select Board members’ votes are shown. We will ask the town to confirm any noted vote.
