“Councilor W. Alexopoulos made a motion to approve Council Order 2020-010, seconded by Councilor Egan. Councilor Huff-Larmond - We have a person in a position in the Health Department and we have a temp nurse, at some point are we going to have our own town nurse or share a nurse with another town? Town Manager Howard - We are in negotiations with a few other communities to share a nurse. Public health nurse and community health nurse. We are making sure we are doing everything possible public health nurse and then there is the issue of community health and wellness. Believe working with Geri Cody this model we are creating is allowing us to do so much more. Helping us with additional flu clinics, also tobacco control components, disease prevention, first aid and back up support. How do we continue to do more with less. We need to do a better job at getting grants. Councilor Clifton - With respect to the Town Nurse is it a question we don't have the resources or it is not needed. Town Manager Howard - Director of Public Health and myself have determined to meet the requirements of the state and also expand upon the education component. Going in the right direction. Very impressed with the work that she has done over the past two months. Vote on the motion to approve Council Order 2020-010: 9-0-0.” (Motion: William Alexopoulos, second: Egan)
