Postpone the Annual Town Meeting to Tuesday, May 19, 2020

Minutes, page 7

ApprovePassed · Unanimous, 5 present

That the Board postpone the Annual Town Meeting to Tuesday, May 19, 2020.

From the minutes

“MOTION: That the Board postpone the Annual Town Meeting to Tuesday, May 19, 2020. Motion by: Tracy Post Seconded by: Erik Tolley Discussion on the Motion: The Chairman confirmed that the Town Meeting was to be postponed, rather than the Town Election. Selectman Tolley asked if the Town Moderator had been consulted regarding the new date. The Town Administrator said that the Town Moderator had not been notified yet. He had wanted to settle on the date in order to allow additional time before having to send the warrant to the printer. There was still enough time, allowing sufficient flexibility, to work out any issues with the Moderator. Selectman Forest said that he was trying to understand the timing, and questioned if both the Town Meeting and the Town Election were being moved. The Town Administrator stated that moving the Town Meeting was being voted on now, but with the new legislation, the Town Election could be moved later. Chairman Stone added, per the legislation, any people up for reelection would continue in office until the postponed date. The Town Election could be moved any time before June 30, but the Board would hold off on deciding until the next meeting. The Town Administrator said that he just received an email from the Moderator, deferring to the Selectmen regarding setting a new date for Town Meeting. Roll Call Vote: Norm Holcomb, aye; Erik Tolley, aye; Tracy Post, aye; Mark Forest, aye; Michael Stone, aye. The motion passed unanimously..” (Motion: Post, second: Tolley)
