Motion presented by Councillor Cogliandro, Councillor Serino: That the City Solicitor appear before the City Council to discuss the role and responsibilities of an “Acting Mayor” for the edification of the City Councillors and the residents of Revere. Seeing as the City of Revere has not had a Mayor resign or pass away in office in many years, if ever, Councillors and residents are interested to learn about, and may have questions regarding, how city government operates during the time between the elected Mayor's resignation on April 21, 2023 and when a new Mayor is sworn-in on January 1, 2024. Further, that the City Solicitor explain to the Council and residents what an Acting Mayor can and cannot do while serving as the placeholder until the people of the city elect a new Mayor, as well as exactly what powers/duties the Acting Mayor has, specifically in order that the Council is able to better understand how to craft and submit motions that will fall in line with the powers/duties of the Acting Mayor.
