From the minutes

“Councilor Adams moved the request, seconded by Councilor Huff-Larmond. Councilor Clifton asked that the members of the Charter Review Committee be identified. Councilor Goldstein - Currently 4, Councilor W. Alexopoulos, Councilor Clerger, Councilor Clifton, Councilor Huff-Larmond and adding Councilor Adams as a 5th member of the committee. Councilor Egan- Was this the vote at the last meeting? Councilor Goldstein - Asking for the motion be reversed and send to the Charter Review committee. Councilor Adams - It would come to full council after subcommittee meets. Councilor Egan - Going from 9 to 3 and now 5. Why not do it as a whole? Councilor Goldstein - 51 pages, years of experience says to put to subcommittee. All recommendations come to the Council. Councilor Egan - Reasoning from 9 as a whole to 5 is because? Councilor Goldstein - Subcommittee will do a first pass. Councilor Adams - Very open subcommittee meetings. Councilor Huff-Larmond - Makes sense because the charter and the policies kind of bind together. Probably look at both documents so instead of committee for one document and then the other put together in one committee. Save some time. As a smaller group do more research and then bring to larger council. Councilor Egan - I am favor of putting them both together but don't see why majority is being left out. Attorney Griffin - Can amend to refer to a different subcommittee, but only the president can change the committee themselves. Vote: 5-1-0 (Councilor Egan in the negative. Councilors C. Alexopoulos, W. Alexopoulos and Burgess absent) Motion passes..” (Motion: Adams, second: Huff-Larmond)
