“Mr. Trindade moved that the Board approve the Woodard & Curran proposal and authorize the Chair to execute it. Seconded by Ms. White. Discussion followed. Mr. Crowley speaks to the use of Affordable Housing Trust funds from the Legion property sale and emphasizes the need for the board to discuss and align on the appropriate use of the land, as there has been no communication on the matter. Mr. Rossi agrees that further discussion is needed. Mr. Trindade points out that state funding for affordable housing requires a minimum of 50 units and suggests moving forward with the feasibility study to determine if the land can accommodate that. He stresses that the study does not commit the board but will clarify whether 50 units can fit. Mr. Crowley disagrees, stating that the land can already fit 62 units, based on a previous proposal. Mr. Rossi remains undecided. Ms. White feels a study is necessary for understanding what could be built under Chapter 40B, enabling future discussions. Mr. Crowley cautions the Affordable Housing Trust that spending the $20,000 on the study does not guarantee that the board will approve the project.
