How the Hudson Select Board voted, from the Select Board’s official minutes. 5 Select Board members elected townwide for three-year terms. After the May 14, 2018 town election (Joseph Durant and John Parent re-elected), the board unanimously chose John Parent as Chairman, Joseph Durant as Vice Chairman and James Quinn as Clerk on May 21, 2018. Covers 20 meetings, May 21 to April 22, 2019.
A monthly email on what it voted on, starting in November.
What does the Select Board do? It is the town’s executive board. It prepares the Town Meeting warrant (the list of articles voters decide), appoints members of many town boards, hires the town’s top staff, signs warrants to pay town bills, and grants licenses and permits.
Town Meeting, not the Select Board, votes the town budget and town bylaws.

Under the state Open Meeting Law, boards post notice at least 48 hours ahead, not counting weekends and legal holidays.
"At X of Y meetings" counts the members the minutes list as present at the start of each meeting in this record. Members who step out are listed on each meeting page.
Loaded: Hudson Select Board minutes from January 8, 2018 through September 9, 2026: 191 meetings and 3,202 votes. The town’s Agenda Center holds the board’s minutes back to 2017; MassVoter has loaded 2018 on. The board was the Board of Selectmen until it voted on December 7, 2020 to call itself the Select Board; from January 2021 its minutes say “Board of Selectmen who, by vote, prefer to be referred to as the Select Board.” All the minutes loaded have searchable text except two: the July 29, 2024 minutes are a scan and the February 28, 2022 file has unreadable text, so both were read with text recognition; two older files were posted as Word documents. Not here: executive-session minutes; cancelled meetings; and meetings with an agenda but no posted minutes. Many of those gaps fall in 2019 to 2024, when the town moved its records to a new website and some meeting pages list a minutes file that was never posted (among them June 17, 2019, January 6 and 13, June 1, 22 and 29, July 13 and December 21, 2020, March 16, May 17, June 7, July 12 and 26 and August 9, 2021, January 10, June 6 and 16, July 25 and August 15, 2022, January 9 and 23, March 13, April 24 and June 5, 2023, and February 26, March 11 and June 3, 2024); April 13 and August 10, 2026 also have no minutes posted, and meetings after September 9, 2026 are not posted yet. Until December 2024 Hudson’s minutes say “On a motion by Mr. Quinn, seconded by Mr. Durant, the Board voted 5-0 to …” and name members who abstain or vote no in the next sentence (“Mr. Lucy abstained”); a count that matches the members present is shown as every member present voting yes. Since December 2024 the minutes name the mover and seconder and list no votes and abstentions by name (“Motion Carries 4-0-1 – Abstained: Scott Duplisea”). Budget hearings are recorded in tables (department, amount, mover, seconder, vote); each row is shown as a vote (225 rows). Some counts do not agree with the names in the same sentence (for example “voted 4-0-1 … Mr. Lucy opposed”); those votes show the count only, with a note quoting both. Where a split count names no one, or the count does not match the members present, we show the count only, with a note (75 votes); where the minutes say only “the Board voted” with no count, or the count is misprinted, we show the result only (22 votes). Members who stepped aside (recused), arrived late or left early are shown only in the votes they were there for. At joint meetings with other boards only the Select Board members’ votes are shown, and choices between candidates where members picked different people show the result only. We will ask the town to confirm any noted vote.
Most board votes are unanimous. These are the ones where at least one member voted no or abstained, newest first.
