Direct the Town Administrator to ask the State for the maximum extension allowed
To direct the Town Administrator to ask the State for the maximum extension allowed
“Mr. MacAskill moved to direct the Town Administrator to ask the State for the maximum extension allowed. Seconded by Mr. Piekarski. Mr. Piekarski referred to Mr. Powers comment that Counsel had opined, that they thought it was likely that the Board would get the extension. Mr. Powers replied that Counsel did not have a sense of how much time would be granted. The guidance was to leave the request but suggested something in the order of 30 days. Mr. Piekarski commented that he assumes the Board will be prepared to take their vote next week because they may not have a response. Mr. Powers replied that that was correct. He added that they are not operating under the assumption that they would necessarily get the extension. That is why they continued to proceed with the materials was soon as they were received. Mr. Howell asked for clarification that they were asking for a 30 day extension. Mr. Piekarski replied that they were thinking of leaving it open because perhaps the Commonwealth cannot grant the 30 days. He does not want it denied if they are only allowed a 15 day extension. Ms. Kavanagh suggested that they ask for the maximin extension allowed. The words "for the maximum extension allowed" were added to Mr. MacAskill's motion. Vote: 5:0 in favor Motion carried.” (Motion: MacAskill, second: Piekarski)
