Affirm the appointment of Randy Spears as the Building Commissioner, effective September 23, 2024
To affirm the appointment of Randy Spears as the Building Commissioner, effective September 23, 2024
“Mr. Piekarski moved to affirm the appointment of Randy Spears as the Building Commissioner, effective September 23, 2024. Seconded by Mr. MacAskill. Mr. Piekarski referred to the document pertaining to a conditional and asked that successful completion of the ICC Exams be included in those conditions. Mr. Powers replied that he does not consider it to be a conditional offer. The two parties have agreed and if the Board affirms it, the conditions that are in the offer letter will be met. Mr. Spears has been told by the State that upon having the title, he will achieve the certification. Mr. Spear will have a probationary period and Mr. Powers can rely upon the absence or denial of that to not move past the probationary period. Mr. Powers emphasized that Mr. Spears sought this from the Commonwealth and continued to get certifications while he was in Florida. Mr. Powers is confident that, if the appointment is affirmed, Mr. Spears will obtain the necessary certifications. Mr. Howell reiterated that Jack Mead did a splendid job He also noted that it is increasingly difficult to get competitive offers from people relative to the open positions in Town. At some point they will need a strategy to be sure they have the ability to pick from fine candidates and a range of people. Vote: 5:0 in favor. Motion carried.” (Motion: Piekarski, second: MacAskill)
