Minutes, page 1

ApprovePassed · Unanimous, 5 present

Delay annual town meeting & elections until the Carver declared emergency has been lifted to 3 weeks for annual town meeting and 4 weeks for annual town elections. Townsend would like to use this as a guideline, but would like it remain fluid. Second by Hewins. Clarke stated that we should not tie the town into a date because circumstances could change. Belbin feels the Select Board can change the date if that is the case. Clarke asked Belbin to amend the motion. Belbin amended motion to change the wording "the town intends to delay …" Second by Hewins. TA stated that the Town Clerk, Select Board, Town Moderator and Town Counsel all need to be available for this date. Townsend asked if there is legislation with restrictions on holding these events. TA stated the election needs to occur before June 30 and Town Meeting can be delayed. Townsend asked for the motion to be amended to add the wording 'approximate'. Clarke and Belbin stated that 'intends' means this can be flexible depending on all parties and the circumstances. Townsend stated that the election involves a lot of people that will need to be here and know the date with advance notice
