Missed roll call votes

How often each State Senator did not vote on a recorded roll call, from the official Senate roll call records. The same rule for everyone; the record does not say why a member did not vote.

Session

40 State Senators

237 roll calls in 2025–2026 so far (through July 31, 2026). At least half of the members missed none. 31 members voted on every roll call. Ranked by share of roll calls voted on; ties share a rank.

How this is counted

  • Source: the official Massachusetts Senate roll call records for each session.
  • “N/V” (did not vote) counts as missed. Voting “present” counts as voting.
  • Quorum calls (attendance checks) are not counted.
  • Members are counted only for roll calls held while they served, so a member who joined or left mid-session is compared on their own roll calls.
  • The record does not say why a member did not vote: illness, family, military service or other official duties are not shown. MassVoter never grades officials; these are plain counts.
  • Joint sessions of the House and Senate (Constitutional Convention) and the vote electing the Senate President at the start of each session are not counted.
  • The Senate President is not ranked: by tradition the President rarely votes and is left off most Senate roll calls.
