Amendment adopted
What it means
This Senate bill changes local property tax relief rules. It lets cities and towns choose to give a property tax exemption to deaf residents who own and live in their home, either $5,000 of value or $437.50, or a flat $500. It sets an $80,000 income limit for seniors deferring property taxes and changes how interest and liens work on deferred taxes. It also moves filing deadlines for forest, farm and recreation land tax programs from October to December and changes rules for those land programs. Sections 1 and 6 take effect July 1, 2018.
