Amendment adopted
What it means
Changes employer health care contributions. Raises three figures in the existing employer contribution law (section 189 of chapter 149) from .34 to .51, from .12 to .18 and from .24 to .36, then sets them back on December 31, 2019. Starting January 1, 2018, employers with more than 5 employees must pay 5 per cent of wages (up to the unemployment insurance taxable wage base) for each worker who gets health coverage through the state division of medical assistance or subsidized Health Connector insurance; this new charge is repealed December 31, 2019, with appeals and collection rules set out. It also sets unemployment insurance experience rates from column 'D' for 2018 and column 'E' for 2019.
