What it means
This bill lets the state convey about 4,750 square feet of state parkway land at 34 North Street in Somerville, at the corner of Alewife Brook Parkway and Powder House Boulevard, to the Somerville Housing Authority. The authority may ground lease it for the redevelopment of the Clarendon Hill apartments as mixed-income housing. In return, the authority must pay full fair market value or value in proposed use (whichever is greater), give the state land of equal or greater size and resource value, or a mix of both, so there is no net loss of conservation land. The appraisal is reviewed by the Inspector General, and the housing authority pays all costs.
