Amendment adopted
What it means
Adds pregnancy and related conditions, including lactation and the need to express breast milk, to the state's anti-discrimination law for employers. Employers must provide reasonable accommodations, such as more breaks, seating, light duty, a modified schedule or a private non-bathroom space to express milk, unless they prove undue hardship, and may not punish workers who ask for them or require them to take leave when another reasonable accommodation could be provided. Employers cannot demand a doctor's note for some accommodations and must give workers written notice of these rights; the act takes effect April 1, 2018.
