What they voted on
Final approval before the bill goes to the Governor
Official wording: S.2395, Question on passing the bill to be enacted (2/3) Senate
Passed
What it means
This bill lets the state release about 1 acre at 12 Friend Street in Berkley, owned by a Chamberlain family trust, from a state farmland preservation restriction and right of first refusal. Before the release, the land must get an updated fair market value appraisal, and if that value is higher than its value as farmland, the owner must pay the difference to the Department of Agricultural Resources to buy other farmland restrictions. It also removes two parcels the bill says were wrongly included in the original restriction, and keeps the rest of the restriction in force.
