What it means
This Senate bill requires the state education department, working with the early education department and subject to funding, to issue guidelines to help school districts screen students who show signs of a neurological learning disability such as dyslexia. It also adds a member from a dyslexia advocacy group to a panel set up by a 2012 law on early language and literacy, and adds identifying dyslexia and steps on student screening and teacher preparation for reading disabilities to that panel's work.
