Amendment adopted
What it means
Changes how health insurers send the summary of payments forms that show what care was billed. Insured adults and others who can consent to their own care could choose where the forms go (their own address, another address, or online), and insurers could not describe sensitive health services on the forms. Members with nothing to pay for a specific service could ask that the form for that service not be sent, without giving a reason, and a person who says in writing that disclosure could put someone in danger must be accommodated without questions. The state insurance division sets rules within 3 months, an education plan starts in 6 months, and the main changes take effect 9 months after the law does.
