What it means
Rewrites state law on job safety for public employees. State, city, town and other public employers must give their workers at least the protections of the federal Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970. The bill sets up a governor-appointed advisory board of state officials, union, municipal and other members to review injury data and recommend safety measures, and directs the state labor department to write enforcement rules, with the Attorney General able to sue to enforce them. Takes effect September 1, 2018.
