What it means
Creates three regional commissions on the status of women: an Eastern Regional commission (listed towns and cities including Boston, Quincy and Brookline), an Upper Middlesex commission (listed communities including Lowell, Cambridge and Newton), and a Plymouth County commission (all Plymouth County communities). Each has 9 unpaid volunteer members appointed by the state commission on the status of women for 3-year terms. Each must study issues facing women in its region, report yearly by June 2 with recommended solutions, meet at least 4 times a year, and may accept gifts and grants. The Upper Middlesex and Plymouth County commissions start January 1, 2018.
