What it means
This bill requires every public and private college and university in Massachusetts to adopt policies on dating violence, domestic violence, sexual assault and stalking, including how to report, the range of sanctions, and how cases are handled. Schools must name at least 1 confidential resource advisor to help those who report, offer an anonymous reporting method, sign agreements with a local sexual assault crisis center and a domestic violence program, provide annual prevention programming for newly enrolled students and new employees, and work out procedures with local police. A student or witness who reports in good faith may not be disciplined for related conduct code violations unless the violation was egregious. Schools must file yearly reports by October 1 with case numbers, and the bill creates a task force on allowing pepper spray on campuses.
