Amendment adopted
What it means
Changes the rules for disability (handicapped) parking plates and placards. Sets a $50 fine for hiding a placard's number or expiration date or not following its printed instructions, and adds using a deceased person's plate or placard to the misuse rules, with two figures in that section changed from 30 to 60 and from 90 to 120. Lets the Registry of Motor Vehicles demand proof for applications, investigate and revoke falsely obtained plates or placards, and sets fines of $500 for a first and $1,000 for a later false statement on an application, plus $100 for not returning a revoked placard. Also adds disability placards to the items covered by section 24B of the motor vehicle law.
