Minutes, page 7

ApprovePassed · Unanimous, 5 present

A motion was made by Select Board Member Maselli and was seconded by Select Board Member West. Select Board Member West asked whether the request for Little League was correct and asked about their 2025 parade. Town Manager Slagle advised that the request for 2025 was made and approved last year. Chair Bendel stated that the Board went through this policy just a few years ago because the Town Manager at the time was concerned about budgeting for these particular events. Select Board Member Caira stated that the previous Town Manager was concerned about it and brought it to the attention of the Board. He stated he is happy the Town supports the organizations. Select Board Member Caira advised that Mr. Hull was going to provide a synopsis on the costs to the Town because, at some point, the Board would have to make some tough choices. He noted that other towns include in the permit that the groups running the event must pay for police, fire and/or public works. He believes the Town should move forward with an analysis. Town Manager Slagle stated that he was not aware of the request for an analysis, but he has the Department Heads to provide a calculation of what the events cost the Town. Select Board Member Caira reiterated that he is supportive of the organizations, noting that they give back to the community. Chair Bendel asked if there were additional questions or comments and there being none, he called for the vote and by the affirmative vote of all, it was VOTED: That the Select Board approve the following events which require road closures: Wilmington Fourth of July Firecracker 5K Road Race Thursday, June 26, 2025 Wilmington Fourth of July Fall Fest 5K Road Race Saturday, September 27, 2025 Sole Sisters Running Club 5K Road Race Saturday, December 13, 2025 Wilmington Little League Opening Day Parade Sunday, April 12, 2026
