Amend the definition of operator to exclude the lessee and make it only applicable to the property owner

Minutes, page 8 · Video

ApprovePassed · 7–1

With the possibility of 10 unrelated people in an apartment, the rental use becomes a dominant use − Having up to 10 people is more the established residential use and creates public safety issues, noise matters, and a heavy impact on the neighbors − Watertown’s present zoning ordinance prevents the occupancy of 4 unrelated people in a unit; the short-term rental use standard conflicts with the Town’s zoning ordinance. − Even though the lessee would have the approval of the owner, the lessee should not be the operator − The numbers of permitted occupants are too high based on density of the community. − Separate vehicles for occupants could affect an already crowded parking situation Councilor Piccirilli moved to amend the definition of operator to exclude the lessee and make it only applicable to the property owner;
