Elect Patrick Holland as Chair of the Select Board (nominees: Patrick Holland and James F. Mackey, III)
MOTION: Mr. Kratman made a motion to nominate Mr. Holland to the position of Chair of the Select Board. Mr. Ryder seconded the motion. MOTION: Ms. Wellman made a motion to nominate Mr. Mackey to the position of Chair of the Select Board. Mr. Mackey seconded the motion. Mr. Montuori pointed out that because there were two nominations made and two seconds, he would ask for a voice vote from each member. As a point of order, Ms. Wellman asked if the two nominees could hear a brief pitch about why they felt they would be the better Chair. Mr. Mackey stated that coming off of an election the previous Saturday and two years of studying at Mr. Johnson's "elbow," so to speak, he had been working towards becoming Chair. He said he felt that he had a strong handle on the situation, and he had put the time in over the past three years, both with the staff and Mr. Johnson, to learn the ropes. Mr. Holland commented that he felt he had the experience as he had been the Chair of the Conservation Commission for five years, and he felt he had a handle on how to run a meeting and how to control a meeting. A voice vote was taken, which resulted as follows: Mr. Kratman voted for Mr. Holland Mr. Mackey voted for Mr. Holland Mr. Ryder voted for Mr. Holland Ms. Wellman voted for Mr. Holland Mr. Holland voted for himself.
