She asked if there was a way to think about some type of hardship waiver. Board Member Stronach said her concern was that by carving out individuals they would be creating some special interests. Board Member Wellman commented that she felt there were multiple approaches to the problems they were trying to alleviate and to Board Member Stronach''s point, some businesses were experiencing more hardship than others. She said she supported Board Member Kratman's proposal. She further said she had looked into some other towns that had put together some grant funding programs with other neighboring communities for businesses that were funded through the CARES (Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security) Act. Board Member Wellman also said she felt Board Member Stronach had a good proposal in creating a hardship waiver for a period of time on an as-needed basis. Board Member Dick commented that he felt the Select Board had been sympathetic and he said he supported the 50% reduction in license fees, but he was not currently in favor of waiving licensing fees. Chair Kelly commented he felt the Board needed to focus more on taxes, water, and sewer over the next ninety days. He said it was a balancing act in that they had to think about businesses but also the 30,000 residents that lived in Tewksbury.
