Accept the recommendation of the Police Chief Search Committee and to ratify the actions taken to present one candidate given the circumstances that the other candidate dropped out
Motion: Move to accept the recommendation of the Police Chief Search Committee and to ratify the actions taken to present one candidate given the circumstances that the other candidate dropped out. Moved: Paul DeRensis Discussion: The point of the Motion was to waive the Original requirement to bring 3 finalists to the Select Board for their review. Jeffrey Waldron suggested that at the next meeting they should let the public pose questions to the candidate if there are any. George Morrill stated that he did not like that idea but maybe we could ask them to submit questions and the Board could review those questions first. Paul DeRensis stated that he does like the idea of questions being first filtered through the Select Board, because they do not want people talking about specific persons, and the Chair should run the meeting and the Chair should work out those details with the Consultant that was hired and possibly town Counsel. Eric Johnson stated that his first instinct is to have questions filtered through the Board first, it allows the public to have questions but it is controlled through the Select Board. Marian Neutra stated that she would recommend that we wait until we have a signed contract and then introduce him to the public and at that time the Select Board could field any questions there may be from the public, Marian doesn't feel anything could be gained by introducing him and fielding questions before a contract is in place. Motion continued Second: George M
