That the Board form the Sandwich Youth Commission as a nine-member advisory board to the Board of Selectmen, with the slate of individuals to be nominated by school faculty personnel on an annual basis coinciding with the school year.
“Mr. Sampson moved that the Board form the Sandwich Youth Commission as a nine-member advisory board to the Board of Selectmen, with the slate of individuals to be nominated by school faculty personnel on an annual basis coinciding with the school year. Mr. Hoctor seconded. Mr. Holden questioned the make-up of the committee; Mr. Gentile said they have 5 Sandwich students, 2 from Sturgis, and 2 Cape Cod Academy students. Mr. Sampson suggested not clarifying the seats, as student interest would vary over time. Mr. Hoctor would like to see the names, so they could be voted. Mr. Miller said the Board could vote on the structure of the Committee but would need to vote formally on the specific members. Mr. Gentile said the focus would be mainly during the school year but would like to have the group begin to meet during the summer, so it would be better to have the students appointed before going into the summer. Mr. Sampson said that appointments are usually from July 1 to June 30. They should send the names to Mr. Dunham. Approved unanimously by roll call vote..” (Motion: Sampson, second: Hoctor)
