Direct the Town Manager to proceed with the horizontal timber railings as shown and the recommended bridge elevations that replicate the traditional bridge structure

Minutes, page 4

ApprovePassed · Unanimous, 5 present

To direct the Town Manager to proceed with the horizontal timber railings as shown and the recommended bridge elevations that replicate the traditional bridge structure.

From the minutes

“Mr. Sampson moved to direct the Town Manager to proceed with the horizontal timber railings as shown and the recommended bridge elevations that replicate the traditional bridge structure. Mr. Holden seconded. Mr. Holden asked Is this the most cost-effective way to go; Mr. Dunham responded that it may be slightly more expensive, but not considerably. Mr. Miller said that Sam Jensen's evaluation of the boardwalk is the key. The boardwalk is going to go; there is nothing to screw boards into. It is time to go forward. Mr. Sampson said it is easier to take the funds and fix more roads, but the boardwalk is important to the Town; we need to take leadership, and there is no viable innovative alternative. We have incorporated some of what the group wanted. Mr. Hoctor said he looked back at the engineering presentation in January; the elevation is 13' 5" at the height of the bridge, which is three feet higher than what was measured. The whole elevation on the bridge section is up 3' and right after that, the lowest will go up six feet. Mr. Miller said it has to be replaced and if parents let their kids jump off that is one thing, but we need to be careful of supporting jumping. The motion passed unanimously by roll call vote..” (Motion: Sampson, second: Holden)
