Reconsider last week's vote to place this question on the ballot

Minutes, page 2

ApprovePassed · Unanimous, 5 present

To reconsider last week's vote to place this question on the ballot

From the minutes

“Selectman Golden made a motion to reconsider last week's vote to place this question on the ballot. Vice Chair Canty seconded the motion. Selectman Golden stated that it was his hope last week to add this question to the ballot and to request that Town Meeting take a pause - however, Town Meeting did not take a pause and the vote was overwhelming, so he is going to respect their vote and plans to vote "no" on placing the question on the ballot. Vice Chair Canty stated that he has remained against this proposal, and it was overwhelmingly opposed at Town Meeting. Vice Chair Canty added that he encourages anyone who believes this law to be unconstitutional to avail themselves of the appeal process. Selectman Bletzer stated that it was his intention to add this question to the ballot to hear from our residents, adding that he is disappointed that Town Meeting decided to act but affirming that was their choice, and he respects their decision and the process, and will vote to reconsider last week's vote. Selectman Mahoney clarified that to reconsider last week's vote and not include this question on the ballot, the Board is voting in the affirmative. Selectman Mahoney agrees with his colleague's previous statements, adding that this question has further split the community down the middle. Roll Call 5/0: Quintal-Yes, Canty-Yes, Bletzer-Yes, Golden-Yes, Mahoney-Yes.” (Motion: Golden, second: Canty)
