Adopt a Unified Tax Rate for Fiscal Year 2025
To adopt a Unified Tax Rate for Fiscal Year 2025
“Selectman Golden made a motion to adopt a Unified Tax Rate for Fiscal Year 2025. Vice Chair Canty seconded the motion. Chair Quintal opened the floor for public comment relating to the Tax Classification. Lana Mathews took the floor and asked what percentage of the residential stock is owner-occupied and what percentage are secondary homes. Ms. Dunn responded that we ask homeowners this question each year, but it is often not answered. Vice Chair Canty, Selectman Golden, and Selectman Bletzer shared their thoughts on how choosing to adopt a split tax rate would disincentivize businesses from coming to or remaining in Plymouth. Chair Quintal stated that there is not enough commercial tax base in the community to offset the residential tax. Roll Call 5/0: Quintal-Yes, Canty-Yes, Bletzer-Yes, Golden-Yes, Mahoney-Yes.” (Motion: Golden, second: Canty)
