Add the Tax Increment Finance Agreement (TIF) for Rexa Inc. to the Special Town Meeting on 4/28/2025
To add the Tax Increment Finance Agreement (TIF) for Rexa Inc. to the Special Town Meeting on 4/28/2025
“Upon motion made by Select Board Member B. Giovanoni and seconded by Select Board Member T. White to add the Tax Increment Finance Agreement (TIF) for Rexa Inc. and Rexa real estate to the Special Town Meeting on 4/28/2025. Town Manager J. McGrail and Town Counsel G. Corbo provided a quick overview. The State of Massachusetts, through their Economic Assistance Coordinating Council (EACC), voted at their December meeting not to approve the TIF agreement with REXA citing Middleborough's Middleborough Select Board/Board of Health Meeting Minutes January 13, 2025 MBTA compliance. The town believes they did not have that authority and will have town meeting vote which is post the law change in November. Corbo further explained that legislature changed the requirement for approval by the EACC. The town can go forward with a new agreement to vote on and that REXA is willing to work with us. D. Fay, 8309 Oak Point Drive stated it shows going with REXA was the best thing for us. They are willing to stick with us. Further urged residents the need to attend town meeting and vote. N. Kefalis, concerned citizen added that Celebrate Middleborough was helped by REXA. It's a good company for the town. The Board voted unanimously to add the Tax Increment Finance Agreement (TIF) for Rexa Inc. to the Special Town Meeting on 4/28/2025..” (Motion: Giovanoni, second: White)
