“18. C0007-26 Ordinance/s/ Councilor Katy L. Rogers, Councilor Vivian Nguyen, Councilor Stephanie Martins An ordinance amending Section 37 (Everett Docklands Innovation District ("EDID")) of the city's Zoning Ordinance to add data centers to the prohibited uses portion of the section's use category table Councilor Matewsky expressed his concerns about data centers. He noted the Davis Company bought 100 acres, and there will be a 25-acre lithium factory and animal research laboratories proposed, along with data centers. Councilor Rogers explained that the original proposal was to prohibit data centers altogether, but after going through due process, being referred to the planning board where residents and the board had multiple meetings, and working with the city administration (Jacqueline and Monica) and select residents, they concluded that completely prohibiting data centers was too restrictive. They wanted to allow room for some growth while being mindful of growth that is advantageous and doesn't cause harm. Motion to refer to Legislative Affairs Committee.
