Election of the Mayor for 2018-2019: Marc McGovern elected
A choice between councillors, so MassVoter shows the result only. Ballot one, as the minutes record it: for Councillor Marc McGovern, Councillors Carlone, Devereux, Kelley, Mallon, McGovern, Siddiqui and Zondervan (7); for Councillor Timothy J. Toomey, Jr., Councillors Simmons and Toomey (2). Councillor Simmons then changed her vote to Councillor McGovern (8 to 1).
“At this time, the Presiding Officer struck the gavel three times and declared that Councillor Marc McGovern has been elected Mayor of the City of Cambridge for the term 2018 - 2019..”
Make the vote for Mayor unanimous (motion by Councillor Simmons)
The minutes say only that "there was a negative vote on this motion", with no count, so MassVoter shows the result only.
“Councillor Simmons moved to make the vote unanimous. The Presiding Officer announced that there was a negative vote on this motion..” (Motion: Simmons)
Election of the Vice Mayor for 2018-2019: Jan Devereux elected
A choice between councillors, so MassVoter shows the result only. Ballot one: for Councillor Jan Devereux, Councillors Carlone, Devereux, Mayor McGovern, Councillors Siddiqui and Zondervan (5); for Councillor E. Denise Simmons, Councillors Kelley, Mallon, Simmons and Toomey (4). Councillors Mallon and Kelley then changed their votes to Councillor Devereux (7 to 2).
“At this time, the Presiding Officer struck the gavel three times and declared that Councillor Jan Devereux has been elected Vice Mayor of the City of Cambridge for the term 2018-2019..”
Adjourn the meeting
A voice vote; the minutes do not list how each councillor voted, so MassVoter shows the result only.
“At 11:19 A.M. Councillor Toomey made a motion to adjourn. The motion carried on a voice vote of nine members..” (Motion: Toomey)
