Question of approving Extra Work Order #1 with Mass Pavement Reclamation in the amount of $580,047.75, related to contract PW/23-06 "Larz Anderson Roadway Improvements." Commissioner Chute and Alexandra Vecchio appeared to review this extra work order. They reviewed this is related to unforeseen conditions discovered throughout the 2023 and 2024 construction seasons, resulting in the need to redesign portions of the project. Most significantly, although the town conducted sample test pits at various locations in and along the roadway to evaluate the depth and permeability of soils, intermittent shallow ledge was encountered during construction, impacting the viability of the initial drainage solutions. The team was able to pivot and adjust the drainage design while still retaining the project goals and scope. This is a huge project throughout the park and had a lot of oversight. This will get us to a successful conclusion.

“Innholder All the paperwork has been submitted; there are no outstanding issues: All pending the police reports related to new compliance regulations. Public hearing: Iris Hotel: Attorney Steffani Boudreau provided an update on this new hotel on Webster Street. The hotel was before the board in July and approved with the request to return at the renewal process for an update. The hotel has a 24/7 concierge; things are going great with no complaints; the hotel is an added value to the neighborhood. The hotel is working with DPW to update and beautify the roadways there. Jonathan Davis spoke about the Marriott and during the summers the hotel has a permit for band performances in the courtyard, the volume is way up and the neighbors are complaining. The staff appears to be uninterested when this is addressed to them. He asked the board to somehow figure out how to impress upon the management team that they are not being good neighbors and provide controls to reduce the volume. There was a brief discussion on entertainment licenses, and it was noted that a couple of new licenses were not allowed for outdoor entertainment. It was noted that the Marriott does hold that license and unless there is a noise by-law complaint documented, their license can't just be pulled upon request. Mr. Carey will follow up as the police have been working on this issue with the Marriott. The board noted that neighborhoods are changing, new development, restaurants, increased food deliveries, etc. a strategic overall plan should be visited. The inholders' licenses are conditional upon the police department's final compliance review. Approved: Aye: Bernard Greene, Michael Sandman, Paul Warren, John VanScoyoc, David Pearlman.”
