“Question of setting the date for the 2025 Annual Town Election. Ben Kaufman, Town Clerk, reviewed the Town Election recommended date of May 6, 2025. This will provide the town clerk's office with some time for preparation work. He reviewed the open seats up for election. Paul Warren noted the charter change group that is trying to gather signatures for charter change. If they are successful in getting signatures, and it's certified by the town clerk, would this then go on the ballot, and we'd get some additional information. Ben Kaufman replied, yes, once the signature collection is complete, the campaign will submit the final signatures with a letter to the town clerk's office. The campaign has been very cooperative in helping the office avoid overburdening because there is a very large number of signatures, but once they're finished submitting those signatures, they include a letter that starts a 10-day clock, and at the end of those 10 days my office will notify the board if they have reached the required threshold of around 6,170 signatures to be on the ballot. As long as that date happens before the cutoff of about 100 days before the election. On motion it was, MOVED: To call the Annual Town Election on May 6, 2025, from 7AM until 8PM, for the purpose of electing the following offices: One Select Board Member for Three Years; Four Trustees of the Public Library for Three Years; Three Members of the School Committee for Three Years; One Commissioner of the Housing Authority for Five Years; Five Constables; Five Town Meeting Members for Three Years in all Precincts; One Town Meeting Member for Two Years in Precincts 3 and 4; and One Town Meeting Member for One Year in Precincts 12 and 15. Aye: Bernard Greene, Michael Sandman, Paul Warren, John VanScoyoc, David Pearlman.”
